I did a post about how much I love my nana (and becoming a Dementia Friend) and thought I might keep it a tradition to do these posts about people in my life that I love. I know sometimes people find it hard to express emotions to the ones they love and let them know they're loved so what a better way to write it all done in a note for them to see themselves. And obviously you guys.
To begin with my mum is my best friend. There's no doubt about it. I can tell my mum anything that ever comes to my mind, whether it be about work, friends, weird dreams I have and sometimes they are too weird to mention to other people, girly situations, literally anything! We work so well together that we know when one another is feeling down we know exactly how to cheer each other up and just make sure you know that I'm here.
I am the youngest of the family as I have two older brothers who absolutely doted on me when I was a baby. So me and my mum have always been close, I am also quite a daddies girl but my mum is like my sister. Mum used to dress me up in pretty dresses with matching hats or headbands and dainty shoes.
Growing up my mum has always been one of those cool parents which never embarrassed me and always spoilt me rotten. We've always been quite a close knit family and adored each other and treasured our time together. On Sunday nights before school my mum would help me in the bath, wash my long curly hair and then we'd sit and watch Where The Heart Is whilst she brushes my hair before tucking me into bed ready for school the next day. Little things like these I will never forget, I still like my hair being brushed now but I'm such a fussy bugger.
When growing up my mum has always been there for me through everything; school performances, organising birthday parties, making fancy dress costumes, taking me out to try on prom dresses and the endless amount of shopping trips. There is no better person to shop with than my mum.
Mum is always there for me with a kiss and cuddle or even a shoulder to cry on when I'm not feeling myself, it really is a mother instinct when they know when their child is unhappy, it's like my mum is a mind reader. Apart from when she always forgets that I don't like certain foods.
It's definitely true that when you get older you appreciate your parents a lot more, but I've always had a great deal of appreciate for the ones who bring me up and keep me happy. Just recently when my mums been through a lot of horrible experiences and we've both been there together seeing my Nana deteriorate we've began to understand that you need to take everyday as it comes and appreciate what you have while you have it. I cherish every moment that I have with my family and hope they understand how much I love and appreciate them.
I'm starting to ramble now.
My mum has 100% shaped me into the person I am today and I couldn't thank her enough for all that she's done and continues to do, not just for me but my brothers, family, my nana, my nieces and everyone else.
Thank you for being there for me whenever I need you.
Thank you for the sacrifices you make to make everyone else happy.
Thank you for being my best friend.
Thank you for making me smile everyday.
Mostly thank you for being you.
Happy Mothers Day to my crazy, beautiful, wonderful, caring Mumma.
Hope all you mums, grandmothers and anyone else has a wonderful mothers day!
