Mini Barry M Haul

Don't you just love supermarkets when they sell make up and cosmetics?! The other day when me and Matthew nipped to Tesco I had to look around their beauty department. Some of the bigger Tesco stores have a much better range than others, the Tesco which I like to go to best has their own salon; hair dressing and beauty treatments! ahh what better way to spend extra money I don't have when I go food shopping.

There were quite a few of the same products all thrown into a few boxes and I had to have a rummage through to find the best ones and this is what I came away with..

I apologise for the rubbish photo, this was taken on my phone.

I literally picked up about 2 hand fulls of different items and had to restrain myself and put the majority of them back because I'm supposed to be saving money, however I did still get some awesome bits!

Limited Edition Starry Eyed Palette; this was the only palette available and despite the make up finger print marks all over the box I had to have this, especially with it being limited edition. The palette includes 3 matte shades, 4 shimmery shades and a bronze blusher in an orangey shade. The colours are perfect for evenings out, or toned down in the daytime with the more natural matte shades of brown and cream. Originally at £6.49 I got this for around half the price at Tesco.

Extreme Lip Colour Loud Mouth; I've been wanting a real red lip-gloss, this is perfect because it is such a deep red and at a bargain price of £1.99! I chose the colour Tease which gives you the perfect pout and such an intense colour.

Lip Paint Lipstick; I also chose a lipstick, in number 153(425) I chose what I thought would be quite a pale pink but it's a lot similar to a few other colours that I have like the Ted Baker Lip Crayons. The lip paint goes on very nicely and lasts for such a long time!

Dazzle Dust Eye shadow 39; There were lots of different colours of dazzle dust. I'm a lover of neutral shades of eye colours so I went for this light shimmery tan colour which will look beautiful in the crease or all over the eye for a golden goddess look!

Silver Nail Art Pen; These pens are genius! I already have the black, white and pink and I'm always using these when creating new nail art. The pens are perfect for detailed patterns, dotting and lines.

Let me know what you think to these products!
Comment and share.

My Everyday Essentials

I know that when a lot of people do 'Everyday Essential' posts it's all mainly their everyday make up items that they use on a daily basis. Well I thought I'd share with you the different products like skin care, that I use day in day out. But don't doubt I'll probably show you guys what's in my make up bag sooner or later. I've actually had a big clear out of old crappy make up that I never use or is probably out of date, so if you guys know anything you can recommend that is good for everyday use let me know!

Anyway, my everyday essentials..

Batiste 'Blush' Dry Shampoo; Dry Shampoo is beginning to be a must for me as I've been trying to stop washing my hair so often (I used to wash my hair everyday) and this works wonders to my hair. I also sometimes use it on freshly washed hair to give my hair some volume and it smells so pretty and fresh.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash; I like to use a good daily face wash that gets all the dirt and makeup out of my pores and makes my skin feel really fresh after use. This works wonders! The first time I used it, it made my lips feel tingly because of how good it gets down into your pores.

Sanex Extra Control Anti-perspirant Deodorant; Just an essential that anybody needs to use daily. I also like to use Sanex because they're soft on skin.

Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter; I always keep this either on my bedside table or in my handbag so that it's close by. I quite often get dry sore lips after being at work all day and after talking a lot. Lather some on before I go to sleep and wake up with soft lips.

E45 Cream; I use a cream based moisturiser like this daily because I am prone to Eczema on my cheeks and my hands. It helps to relieve the itchiness and dry skin. E45 are the best for dry skin products.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the products I use everyday. What are your everyday favourites?
Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Baking Banana Bread

Baking is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon. There's been loads of new recipes I've found that I've wanted to try so look out for more and possibly even baking videos. I've been really into Soreen Banana Bread and figured I'd have to try out making my own.

To make my Banana Bread you will need:
285g/10 oz Plain Flour
1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
110g/4 oz Butter as well as a little extra for greasing or you can use Lard
225g/8 oz Caster Sugar
2 Free Range Eggs
2/3 Well ripe Bananas
85ml/3fl Buttermilk, regular semi skimmed milk is fine
1 Tsp Vanilla extract
1 Tsp of cinnamon

Firstly make sure you preheat your oven to 180c/350f/Gas mark 4.
This may vary depending on whether your oven is fan assisted or not so you might want to make sure you keep an eye on your bread to make sure it isn't over cooked, just like my first attempt was. BUT extra burnt edges give extra taste!

Stir the flour, bicarbonate of sofa and salt into a large mixing bowl.

Into a separate mixing bowl cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy.
Then add your mashed up bananas, vanilla extract, cinnamon and eggs.

You can mix together by hand or if you're lazy like me and get arm ache really quickly, you can use a mixer. Just make sure the mixture is nice and fluffy.

Once all fluffed up, it's time to fold in your flour. The best way to do this is run your mixing spoon around the inside of your bowl ensuring that you get all flour into the mixture, you should add flour a bit at a time so that you're not over powering your mixture. You need to fold the flour in in order to get air into the mixture to help your bread to rise.

When all the mixture is ready you need to make sure you are ready for baking by preparing a loaf shape tin with grease proof paper. Make sure that you cover all the sides so that the bread doesn't get stuck in the tin. I find it easier to do this by greasing the tin with either butter or lard and then stick the grease proof paper on that where it will stick better and make it easier to get all the mixture in the tin. Plus! It is easier if you measure the length and width of your baking tin so that you aren't left with too much paper stick out of the top of your tin that will only get in the way or get burnt. These are the simplest tips that actually help a lot.

It's ready for the oven!
Look how happy I am, please excuse my makeup-less face.

Once in the oven bake for around an hour, or until golden brown.
To check your bread is baked thoroughly poke inside with a clean knife or metal skewer, if it comes out clean it's all done!

I am so pleased with the finished batch! I actually made 2 loaves with my mixture but because I only have 1 tin I baked 1 and it got burnt (but still tastes so good!) so lucky I still had my 2nd batch to bake after.

Let me know if you give this recipe a try, I love it and think it tastes so much better warmed up for pudding.

If you have any other recipes you think I should try let me know and I'll definitely give them a try!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara #2

I said I'd give you guys my verdict on the freebie Benefit mascara so here it is.
Before Mascara

After Mascara

I apologise for my lack in photography skills here, it's harder than you think to take photos of your eyes and these were also taken on my phones front camera to make it some what easier.
I really liked the tiny plastic bristles on the brush because it helped to cover each individual lash and separate them to open up your eyes, it's also good because it prevents you from using so much product and clumping up your lashes. I used around 3 coats to cover my lashes fully. The smaller bristles towards the end of the brush are handy for reaching shorter lashes towards the inner corner of your eyes.

I will definitely be keeping this Benefit mascara in my everyday make up bag.
Let me know your views on Benefit products and any I should try!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara & Good News!

Hey guys!
I have something quite exciting to share with you all.
So, we all love a bargain, especially when it comes to make up and beauty. Well my mum heard on TV via Martin Lewis (that guy from This Morning and Good Morning Britain that's always going on about being stuck in debt and money problems etc.) that ELLE Magazine are giving away a free Benefit mascara in their new march edition mag. ELLE magazine is priced at £4 and the mascara itself should be worth £9.50!

I have done my research and looked online and a few deal websites are showing it up as an expired product, although the magazine is the March edition so you should be able to still get your hands on one of these since it's only just February. Also on Benefit's website the regular sized mascara isn't available yet so buying this magazine for the freebie is a good insight to what it's going to be like before going out and buying the regular version when it's released.

I'm not someone for buying expensive make up, especially mascara as there are so many on the market that have supposedly amazing features and tricks they do to your eyelashes that I often wonder if they in fact do work, so I usually tend to stick with any decent brand I can get my hands on. So this Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is a first for me and I can't wait to use it.

This freebie is only a miniature version of the normal product at around £19.50. The Roller Lash has a "Hook'n'Roll" Brush and hook design which is designed to position it's self around your lashes to catch, life and curl. The idea to lift and curl your lashes is to open up your eye shape for a fuller look.

I haven't yet tried the mascara as Sunday is usually my day of rest for make up. I like to let my skin and eyelashes have a break, so I will post photos of my view on the mascara soon and I'll let you all know what I think to it.

If you've already tried the Roller Lash Mascara let me know how it is!
Also let me know of any other bargains or Benefit products that are worth a try!

I almost forgot to let you know my good news! I am going to be attending my first event as a Beauty Blogger, I've been invited to the Lancôme Makeup Master class in Nottingham in a couple of weeks to learn about their new products and everything else. I can't wait to show you what I get up to and let you know how it goes. So excited!! :D

The Library of Fragrance

So I said that I'd show you some of the products which have featured in my new YouTube video my 'January Favourites' and this is my favourite product which I've wanted to show you for a while.

They are from the company Demeter Fragrance all the way from the US where they also do a range of bath and body products and over 30 more different scents as well as home products like diffusers, candles and room spray. Demeter Fragrance's plan is to get us to expand the use of different fragrances and smell things the way a child would approach new scents. Every scent is unique and has it's own sense of style when it comes to wearing a fragrance as you can mix and match scents together or wear them individually. They have pretty scents like; Moonbeam, Mango, Baby Powder and strange scents like, Fireplace, Dirt, Musk, Leather and Gin & Tonic. It's fact that people choose the scents which are triggered by responses to our emotions, that doesn't quite explain why I chose Sex on the Beach but definitely with Marshmallow as it's always as sweetie that I've enjoyed.

These are my two favourite scents that I found in the range in Boots. Marshmallow and Sex on the Beach.
The Marshmallow scent is just like the sweets themselves and smells similar to Marshmallow's roasted on a camp fire. Whereas Sex on The Beach is very sweet and fruity. I suppose it's similar to the Sex on the Beach cocktail as that's quite fruity and has a sort of berry flavour to it.

The Library of Fragrance is available at Boots stores and online as well as www.thelibraryoffragrance.com

All of these opinions and comments made by myself are in now way afflicted with any other products or anyone else and everything I post is for the benefit of my viewers and readers.

If you've tried any of the other Demeter Fragrance or Library of Fragrance products let me know which and what they're like! I'd love to learn about more of there products and tell me which ones you love the most!

I joined Youtube!

It seems like forever since my last post! I think it's actually just over 2 weeks ago that I did a post because of how busy I've been. Its difficult trying to squeeze in a good sit down with my laptop and camera especially when I have all these plans on what to post and never get round to actually doing it.

But whatever, lets get on with it!
So I've just done my first YouTube video EEEK! and it was a bit of shambles if I'm honest, it's taken me longer than I expected to edit the tiniest bit of the video where I ended up just dazing out. It's the kind of thing I do and it's not a good idea when filming videos but here it is.
It is my first monthly favourites and seen as last month was January, it's January Favourites. Once I get more into filming I'll try and do one each month if I have decent enough products to show you guys that is.

I apologise for the rubbish lighting, editing and use of language. I'm very new to this and get used to all the tech side of YouTube is a tad stressful. So if any of you guys know good software or websites or anything decent that will help me with editing and also adding thumbnails (the little pictures that show up your video on the side of YouTube videos) as I've really been struggling with this.

I'll definitely blog in detail about all the products shown on my January Favourites so look out for them and more videos to come up!

Please subscribe and like my video.

Thank you so much,
Katie xxx
