Back To The 40s

With this year marking the 70th Anniversary of VE Day. This weekend Lincoln town held a wonderful 40's weekend. Being big lovers of all things vintage, wartime and essentially the old times, me, my mum and dad decided we'd go and see what it was all about.

The 40's event was held near the Lincoln Cathedral and Castle in the centre of the town. There was music, dancing, people dressed up, stalls selling home made cakes and bath bombs and soaps. My dad was particularly pleased with the old cars which were on show and some of the nice gentlemen let us sit in for a photo.

  Found myself a soldier ;)

Shops were even dressed up to fit in with the theme, here's a clothes shop with vintage outfits in the window and the window is taped up. In the 40's they had to tape up their windows during the war to stop the glass from shattering everywhere.

There was a Dakota plane.

Fabulous weekend at Lincoln. It was a shame that the weather wasn't as good today as it was yesterday (Saturday) but it was brill and everyone looked amazing!
30th-31st May.

No edited photos here, they all have the beauty and grace of their own.

Hope you've enjoyed reading!

Let me know what you think, or if you know of any other events like this, I'd love to come!

April Favourites

I have so many April faves to talk about, ahhhh! But I'll try not to ramble and talk about too much.

Reeses
I've tried Reeses before and not been a big fan, but for some strange reason I've had huge cravings for chocolate and peanut butter combos. It might seem a bit weird but I don't actually like peanut butter on it's own, I think it's weird and smells funny, but with chocolate it's like this glorious salty and sweet goodness that I can't get enough of! I've tried Reeses Pieces, Peanut Butter M&Ms, Peanut Butter Cups and Reese Wafer Bars. Damn they're so good, I've only gone and made my own Peanut Butter Cups! They're so easy to make, unfortunately I ate them all :) so I'll have to make more so that I can show you guys the recipe.

Starbucks Caramel Macchiato
Again, I never used to like coffee but just recently I've kind of weaned myself into liking it by starting off with different flavoured lattes, since lattes are a milky coffee it's a good way to get yourself to enjoy the coffee taste before over powering yourself with a full on strong coffee like Espresso. After trying the different Frappes from McDonald's and such, I've gotten into buying chilled coffee drinks and I've really enjoyed the Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, I found it in the petrol station at work but strangely they don't actually sell the caramel flavour in store. Big bummer.

Soap & Glory Body Sprays
I've always been a huge lover of Soap and Glory, especially their body butters and sprays. Just recently I've began to use my S&P body sprays much more than perfumes, I tend to reach for the sprays straight away before even thinking about my others. My favourite is the "Glam-A-Lot" body spray. I had a set of the 3 body sprays bought for me some time again which included that as well as "Mist you badly" and the "Girligo" moisturizing mist which I very rarely use. Unfortunately I'm running out, but it's good timing as S&P and bought out a range of new body mists that I'm definitely going to be trying!

H&M
H&M have really upped their game recently! I've always found really lovely items from there for the summer whenever I've looking for new clothes to take on holidays with me. I've found that they have so much choice depending on the style your looking for, they literally do everything to suit anyone and it is such good value for money. I've had some really pretty dresses from here in the past and H&M still aim to please me. Also another reason to get yourself to H&M, at the minute they're promoting recycling, by doing this they're asking customers to bring in as many bag fulls of old clothes or unwanted linen into their stores in exchange for a £5 off of a £30 purchase. This is a brilliant way to get rid of any unwanted clothing, towels, fabrics, materials, linen and textiles and receive something great back for helping reduce waste within the UK. It doesn't take much for me to spend £30 so it's definitely worth it and I'll be taking a few bags in.

Zumba Fitness
After trying everything to try and shift weight and getting bored in the gym I've started to go to Zumba classes with my Brother's Girlfriend. At first I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, being in a big group of people dancing and exercising made me a bit wary, but after a handful of sessions I'm beginning to love it and I'm starting to see the effects of incorporating dance fitness into my lifestyle along with dieting, it is a great way to keep fit as well as have fun. All the girls and women who attend these sessions are so lovely and encouraging. As well as Zumba I've been giving "Red Warrior" a go. Red Warrior is similar, however it is martial arts, karate, exercising and dance all mixed together. It is a much better workout compared to dancing in Zumba and you definitely feel it the next day.

Hope you've enjoyed reading my favourites of April!

The Lipstick Tag

I'm I don't have a huge amount of lipsticks but I do love them. I'm more of a varied lip girl, I like variety with different lipsticks, paints, glosses and balms. I probably have a similar amount of lip glosses to lip sticks but today we're talking sticks!!
I've wanted to do a tag for a long time and I think because I've not posted for a while, it's a good way to get back into it. So please go ahead and tag me in more.

How many lipsticks do you own?
Like I said I have a variety of lip products so lipsticks, I have 16.

What was your first ever lipstick?
If I'm completely honest I don't remember my first ever, I just always borrowed my mums until I started buying my own. The oldest lipstick I own is P&G 'Orange Sizzle'. It's probably one that I've had from my mum. It's still a pretty cool colour despite the brand and age. The boring matte grey packaging doesn't do it justice.

What is your most worn lipstick?
Topshop Sheer Lips 'Lolly'. I love this really light lipstick, the shade is perfect for everyday. I usually put a light coat of this on for work to keep my lips moist.

What is your favourite brand of lipstick?
I really love my Topshop lip colours and Max Factor. I don't use a lot of big branded names with my make up.

What is your favourite lipstick finish?
I like sheer because it's not too heavy but also like a good glossy pout.

What was the last lip product you bought?
Rimmel Diva Red 500.

How many lip products do you currently have in your handbag? (Including glosses and balms)
I'm a terrible handbag Lipstick hoarder. I tend to put whatever I'm wearing that day in my handbag for the rest of the day and forget it's in there. So 2 lipsticks, 2 glosses and 1 Vasaline balm.

How do you store your lipsticks?
My favourite every day lipsticks I keep in a little lilac pot on my dressing table, the rest are in my makeup box.

What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?
Topshop Lip Bullet Cherry Tree.

What lip products are you currently lusting after?
I'd love a nice orangey red or nude. Possibly the Essence dupe of Mac Velvet Teddy, I've gotta stay true to the high street and I love Essence products.

I hope you enjoy this tag! I look forward to seeing more and your comments!

Butlins with Matthew #2

I've been a bit late getting back to you with a post about my little trip away with Matthew and I know I said I was going to blog for you while I was away but despite having paid for WIFI in our apartment, the signal was absolute poop. Plus who wants to be constantly typing on their phones all day whilst away from home? Not me anyway. I have posted a few photos here and there on my social media though if you follow me.

Anyway, Matthew and I have been together for 4 years this month and wanted to spend it with each other, away from home just enjoying ourselves and relaxing. After looking around a whole variety of places we ended up deciding to go to our local Butlins at Skegness. We had originally had this idea of staying in a log cabin some where out of the way with a hot tub where we could enjoy each other's company but Butlins seemed a lot better for us, being better value for money and more variety of things to do. Plus it's the seaside and we love it!

We arrived on Monday Bank Holiday in May and stayed until Friday late afternoon. We enjoyed a fair bit of arcades and the usual seaside holiday activities, plenty of lovely meals out and days out to Ingoldmells and Skegness itself.

Let's start from the start..

Pale skin ft. Primark Pineapple skirt and a smiley bracelet I won on the 2p Machines!

I'm pretty sure I had more photos than this, but I can't seem to find them after saving from my camera. I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've been up to on my little getaway with my lovely boyfriend.

I must say, Thank you to my Matthew for this lovely trip and for putting up with me for a long 4 years!

Stay tuned for more :)
