It seems like it's been forever since I got back from Spain and I haven't done a post about it yet. This year on the 24th June Matthew and I travelled to the lovely island of Fuerteventura. (You'll see this after reading my June faves) We stayed in a wonderful hotel in the south of the Island in an area called Jandia, sometimes known as Morro Jable which is basically next door. It was our first 2 week holiday abroad together, we've obviously been away together before but not for quite as long. Quite wary about the area and lengthy stay Matthew and I made sure to include plenty of excursions into our holiday, this way we would never get bored and would get to make the most of our holiday and the area we were staying in.
Fuerteventura itself is a pretty scarce island with sometimes nothing for miles away from the airport. Our hotel being in the south of the island amongst beautiful beaches and picturesque mountains was around a little over an hour and half's transfer from the airport. We made the most of the scenery and took ourselves on walks across the beach (which was the only way to get to the other towns other than taxi) to get to Jandia town where we spent a few days enjoying the beaches, shopping areas and restaurants.
We went to the Oasis Park which is Fuerteventura's only zoo. It was massive! Name an animal and they have, it was brilliant. We made the most of our day out by paying that little bit extra to meet some of the animals. We rode on Camels, met the Lemurs in their enclosure and fed Zebras, Elephants and Goats. Definitely an experience I won't forget.
Not to forget, We also had a day of adventuring on a 4x4 Jeep Safari. Matthew, me and 2 other English couples were taken in a jeep around different parts of the south of the island by a lovely Italian guide called Benny. We were taken to parts of the island that are only accessible by off road, we saw huge mountains and beautiful sandy beaches. We were even taken to Point of Wind which stands by it's name as the windiest point of the island. Terrifying and amazing at the same time, I was scared that my donut would get blown off in the wind but it managed to stay put. Though we did get back to our hotel at the end of the day wearing half of the sand from each beach we visited.
Here are some of my favourite photos of our adventures in Spain.
I had a fabulous holiday with my best friend.
Thank you for the memories.
